Let us praise the seven Maccabees with their mother, Solomone and their teacher Eleazar; they were splendid in lawful contest as guardians of the teachings of the Law. Now as Christ’s holy martyrs they are interceding unceasingly for the world.

Pray to Christ out God to save our souls.

Kontakion of Ss Alexander, John and Paul, Tone 8.
Divinely wise Alexander, wondrous John and glorious Paul, aflame with Christ’s love you took up His Cross and followed His life. You now share His glory and stand before His throne: beseech Him to save our souls.

Kontakion of St Alexander of the River Svir, Tone 8.
Thou didst settle in the wilderness and shine over Russia like a star. Thou didst take up Christ’s Cross and subdue thy body by asceticism. Wherefore we implore thee to save thy flock, O wise one, that we may cry to thee: O venerable Father Alexander, rejoice.

+ Deposition of the Cincture of the Mother of God

Troparion, Tone 8.
O Ever-Virgin Mother of God, shelter of mankind, thou hast given a powerful legacy to thy people, thine immaculate body’s tunic and cincture which remain incorrupt through thy pure childbirth. For in thee time and nature are renewed, and we implore thee to obtain peace for the world and great mercy for our souls.

Kontakion, Tone 2.
Thy precious cincture, O Mother of God, which encircled the womb that held God is an invincible strength for thy flock and an unfailing treasury of grace, O Ever-Virgin Mother.
