Then, the Prayer of St. Macarius the Great:

O God, cleanse me a sinner, for I have never done anything good before Thee. Bow. But deliver me from the evil one, and let Thy will be done in me. Bow. That I may open mine unworthy mouth without condemnation, and praise Thine holy name, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen. Bow.

Bóže, očísti mja gréšnago, jáko nikolíže blágo sotvorích pred tobóju. Bow. No izbávi mja ot lukávago, i da búdet vo mne vólja tvojà. Bow. Da neosuždénno otvérzu ustà mojà nedostójnaja i voschvaljú ímja tvojè svjatóe: Otcà i Sýna i Svjatágo Dúcha, nýne i prísno i vó veki vekóm, Amín. Bow.

And making the Sign of the Cross, say the Prayer to the Holy Spirit:

Heavenly King, Comforter, True Spirit, Who art everywhere and fillest all, Treasury of good things and Giver of life: come and dwell within us, and cleanse us from every impurity, and save our souls, O Good One. Bow.

Having arisen from sleep, I thank Thee, All-holy Trinity, for in Thy great goodness and patience Thou wast not angry with me, Thy sinful and slothful servant, nor hast Thou destroyed me with mine iniquities, but hast shown Thy love toward man; and when I was lying in despair, Thou hast raised me up to keep the morning watch and to glorify Thine unconquerable dominion. And now, most holy God and Master, enlighten the eyes of mine heart, and open my lips to learn Thy words and to understand Thy commandments; to do Thy will and to sing to Thee in heartfelt confession; to hymn and to glorify Thy most honourable and majestic name, of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity. Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me. To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: that thou mayst be justified in thy words, and mayst overcome when thou art judged. For behold I was conceived in iniquities; and in sins did my mother conceive me. For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me. Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow. To my hearing thou shalt give joy and gladness: and the bones that have been humbled shall rejoice. Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create a clean heart in me, O God: and renew a right spirit within my bowels. Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit. I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee. Deliver me from blood, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall extol thy justice. O Lord, thou wilt open my lips: and my mouth shall declare thy praise. For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted. A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up. Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.

Pomíluj mja, Bóže, po velícej mílosti tvojéj. I po mnóžestvu ščedrót tvoích očísti bezzakónije mojè. Naipáče omýi mja ot bezzakónija mojegò i ot grechà mojegò očísti mja. Jako bezzakónije mojè az znáju i grech moj predo mnóju jest výnu. Tebè jedínomu sogreších i lukávoje pred tobóju sotvorích. Jako da opravdíšisja v sloveséch svoích i pobedíši vnegdà sudíti. Se bo v bezzakóniich začát jesm, i vo greséch rodì mja máti mojà. Se bo ístinu vozljubíl jesì; bezvéstnaja i tájnaja premúdrosti tvojejà javíl mi jesì. Okropíši mja issópom, i očíščusja. Omýeši mja, i páče snéga ubeljúsja. Slúchu mojemù dási rádost i vesélije, vozrádujutsja kósti smirénnyja. Otvratì licè tvojè ot grech moích i vsja bezzakónija mojà očísti. Sérdce čísto sozíždi vo mne, Bóže, i duch prav obnovì vo utróbe mojéj. Ne otvérzi menè ot licà tvojegò i Dúcha tvojegò Svjatágo ne otymì ot menè. Vozdážd mi rádost spasénija tvojegò i Dúchom Vladýčnym utverdì mja. Naučù bezzakónnija putém tvoím, i nečestívii k tebè obratjátsja. Izbávi mja ot króvij, Bóže, Bóže spasénija mojegò; vozrádujetsja jazýk moj právde tvojéj. Góspodi, ustnè moì otvérzeši, i ustà mojà vozvestját chvalù tvojù. Jako ášče by voschotél žértvy, dal bych úbo; vsesožžénija ne blagovolíši. Žértva Bógu – duch sokrušén: sérdce sokrušénno i smirénno Bog ne uničižít. Ublažì, Góspodi, blagovolénijem tvoím Sióna; i da sozíždutsja stény Ierosalímskija. Togdà blagovolíši žértvu právdy, voznošénije i vsesožigáemaja. Togdà vozložát na oltár tvoj telcà.

Having made the Sign of the Cross, say the Symbol of Faith.

Of the First Council: I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages: Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and of the Virgin Mary, and became man; He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried, and arose on the third day, according to the Scriptures; And ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father; And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead; of Whose Kingdom there is no end.
Of the Second Council: And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, true and life-giving, Who proceedeth from the Father; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; Who spake by the prophets. And in One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I wait for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen.

O Lord Who lovest mankind, forgive them that hate and offend us. Do good to them that do good. Grant all our brethren and our relatives who are far away all petitions which are unto salvation, and eternal life. Bow.

Visit them that are sick, and heal them. Free them that are in prison. Be a guide to them that sail the waters. Direct and hasten them that travel. Bow.

Remember, O Lord, our brethren and fellow-believers of the Orthodox faith who are held captive, and deliver them from every evil circumstance. Bow.

Have mercy, O Lord, on them that have given us alms, and have charged us, unworthy though we be, to pray for them: forgive them and have mercy. Bow.

Have mercy, O Lord, on them that labour and them that serve us, and on them that show mercy and that feed us, and grant them all petitions which are unto salvation, and eternal life. Bow.

Remember, O Lord, our fathers and brethren who have gone before us, and make them to dwell where the light of Thy countenance shineth. Bow.

Remember also, O Lord, our lowliness and poverty; enlighten our minds with the light of understanding of Thine Holy Gospel, and direct us in the way of Thy Commandments: through the prayers of Thy most pure Mother, and of all Thy saints. Amen. Bow.

Nenavídjaščich i obídjaščich nas prostì, Góspodi Čelovekoljúbče. Blagotvorjáščim blágo sotvorì, brátijam i vsém sródnikom nášim, íže i ujedinívšimsja, dáruj im vsjà, jáže ko spaséniju prošénija, i živót véčnyi. Bow.

At the end of the prayers, take your cross in your hand and, protecting yourself, say:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, bless, sanctify, and protect me by the power of Thy life-giving Cross.

Góspodi Isúse Christè, Sýne Bóžii, blagoslovì i osvjatì, i sochranì mja síloju Živonósnago Krestà tvojegò.

After that, kiss the cross.

Finishing these prayers, make the Departure Bows.
